Safe Environments Guidelines: Protecting God’s Children

The Diocese of Bridgeport requires all diocesan parishes to announce and share the important resources to teach children how to stay safe in their home, school and community.

These resources are posted on the Diocese of Bridgeport’s website, but are listed on our webpage so that our Religious Education students and parents/guardians can:
• watch and discuss the videos as a family
• understand the role of the Diocese of Bridgeport to keep our students, catechists, staff and volunteers safe
• become aware of the training requirements maintained before an adult is allowed to work with children on Diocesan/Parish campuses.

Though our local public school provides a similar curriculum on personal safety, internet use and safety, making good decisions, the Diocese offers videos that are based on our Catholic faith – that we are all made in the image of God, our Lord wants us to do what is right and good, and we are loved so much that there are always trusted adults who we can turn to in our need. Please consider these videos and resources as a supplement to what your child will learn in their public school.

If you have any questions or concerns, or you would like more information, please contact Erin Neil, Director of Safe Environment and Victim Assistance Coordinator, at the Diocese of Bridgeport, Phone (203) 650-3265.
